Comet, video collage.

One my earliest memories was seeing Halley’s Comet in Joshua Tree National Park in 1986. I remember being lifted under my arms to look through a large telescope, and within the eyepiece seeing the comet apparition framed within a circle. I view this image-experience, forever imprinted onto my internal memory bank, to be a formative lens-based experience. My plan is to see the comet again when it passes through Joshua Tree in 2061.

This video collage uses this memory as a point of departure, to meander through the experience of seeing, visualizing and sensing cosmic phenomena using lens-based and media technologies.

Materials: found footage and sounds, digital photographs from Joshua Tree Park, scanned Risograph prints and vintage magazines, machine generated media.
